Blackpool is gearing up to bid farewell to one of its most successful event seasons to date with a free family celebration on New Year's Eve.
The festivities will take place at the Christmas By The Sea village on the Tower Festival Headland, running from 3pm to 6pm on Tuesday, December 31.
The outdoor celebration will unfold around the Comedy Carpet and will feature a Bavarian-style oompah band, along with entertainment for both children and adults. The event will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display and synchronized projection show set to music.
This celebration marks the conclusion of a year that has seen record attendance at Blackpool’s free events, including the Air Show Weekend, the Illuminations Switch-On, World Fireworks, the Lightpool Festival, and the debut Halloween Monster Hunt.
The enchanting Christmas By The Sea village, which opened on November 15 with a special appearance by Strictly Come Dancing professionals Carlos Gu, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, and Neil Jones, will remain open daily until January 5 (excluding Christmas Day).
At the heart of the village is a free-to-use ice skating rink, surrounded by festive light installations, projection shows, themed log cabins offering a variety of food and drink, artificial snowfalls, sparkling trees, and Christmas tram rides.
The village also features a host of themed children’s attractions, including a helter-skelter, a 100ft-long snow slide, and the return of the Star Flyer. Standing at 260ft tall, the Star Flyer is one of Europe’s tallest swing rides.
On New Year’s Eve, the village will be open from noon to 9pm, with the Illuminations glowing until 1am.
